Our History

Co-owner and head baker, Carlos Camacho, comes from a family history rich in baking. The Camacho family originates from Colombia and immigrated in 1978. His parents and older brother established the first Colombian owned and operated bakery in Chelsea, MA in 1981, servicing Boston proper and the surrounding neighborhoods. Their goal was to spread the flavor of authentic Colombian baked goods and to keep their family tradition and recipes alive.

The original bakery was lost due to a fire in November if 2014, and reopened to its current location today at the Till building on historic Broadway street in downtown Chelsea. Café El Dorado was opened as a tribute to the Camacho name and continues the family Legacy.

Today, that legacy continues within its original recipes for the famous buñuelos, pandebono, pan de queso, arepas, all while being a minority family owned and operated successful business.
